[CenterIM-devel] CenterIM 5.0.0 Beta1 released

Hello list,
I would like to announce the first beta release of CenterIM5 [1].
This release is intended to make a current state of CenterIM5
more approachable for users that don't want to follow the code
from the Git repository.


What is CenterIM5?
 CenterIM5 is a new major version of CenterIM that uses the
 libpurple library [2] as a communication backend. It doesn't
 share any code with CenterIM4, it's written completely from
 scratch. However the intention is to make CenterIM5 as similar
 to the previous major version as possible.

Should I switch to CenterIM5?
 If you're a happy user of CenterIM4 then there is no real
 reason to switch to CenterIM5 yet. However you can give it a
 try, for example, if you have protocol problems in CenterIM4.
 There are a few users that use the new major version regularly
 for more than one year now.
 BTW A short upgrade guide is available on the wiki. It discusses
 some differences between the two versions [3].

Features planned for Beta2 (this is based on the most requested
features in the #centerim channel):
- Improve buddy list customization.
- Add support for external actions.
