CenterIM in screen

When running CenterIM (Ver 4.22.2) in a screen session, line drawing characters are displayed as pipe symbols, pluses and minuses. When not running CenterIM in screen, they're displayed fine.

Problems with UTF-8

I use CenterIM with my en_US.UTF-8 locale, since I live in germany and need UTF-8 characters. When I type those characters, all I see is either blocks or control sequences. Once I send this message, the characters are displayed correctly. When someone sends me a message with UTF-8 characters, they're usuallly displayed correctly. I've tried this on many different terminal emulators, the way the malformed characters appear differs from terminal to terminal, but none of them displays those characters correctly.

Any suggestions? polemon 04:05, 18 July 2008 (CEST)

2. Hi, i couldn't get it compile on debian. the configure-scripts ends with: ... configure: error: You need to have the libstdc++ headers installed

but the libstdc++ headers are in the dev-packages, which i have already installed:

  1. /usr/lib contains:

libstdc++-3-libc6.2-2-2.10.0.a libstdc++-3-libc6.2-2-2.10.0.so libstdc++-libc6.2-2.a.3 -> libstdc++-3-libc6.2-2-2.10.0.a libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 -> libstdc++-3-libc6.2-2-2.10.0.so libstdc++.so -> libstdc++.so.6 libstdc++.so.5 -> libstdc++.so.5.0.7 libstdc++.so.5.0.7 libstdc++.so.6 -> libstdc++.so.6.0.8 libstdc++.so.6.0.8

what can i do?

Answer You can first take a look at the CenterIM4 Requirements page to see what you need to have, in order to compile CenterIM. If it doesn't work, send an email to the mailing list!

Answer Ubuntu/Feisty appears to have the same problem. You need to install the "g++" compatibilty package. GCC itself already knows how to compile C++ code, but Configure isn't smart enough to figure that out. It's trying to invoke g++ to cal the libstdc++ functions, and failing.

apt-get install g++

Question: As I understood, new ICQ6 uses UTF8 charset to send messages in rusian languages. Can centerim support cp1251 and utf8 charsets comming from foreign users? cause centericq can just cp1251->koi8r or utf8->koi8r... Thx
